Mar 06 2019

Built for a single, young professional, the home is a reflection of the client’s dynamic and modern sensibilities. “The essential factor was to design everything around the compact, livable area.” Each space had to be transformable and made flexible yet aesthetically appealing. The compact, introvert small kitchen was broken down to build an open kitchen that is connected to the living/ dining room. A two- bedroom apartment that observes clean lines combined with the space- maximising layout has created a welcoming ambience for the young owners with all functions well taken care of.  The design language is clean, but not boxy. The clients wanted the living area to be attractive, so the open plan creates a spacious feel. The design brief looks at the office cafeteria not as a sole function but as a space which brings about community eating, reading and working together. Situated in a corporate park, the space had constraints of light and volume. A strategic colour palette with minimum floor coverage was one of the most important aspects to be considered while designing the space. Also, some quirky art work and an open library binds the space together inspite of different functions to cater. Photo credits: www.KunalBhatia.net

The conceptual design and layout of the bank is based on the RBI regulations of banks. The entry is designed using the longer side of the site to create an aisle for the spaces which are used on day to day basis by the customer. The administration space is secluded from the aisle to maintain privacy. The glass partitions with horizontal striations around the manager’s cabin creates transparency as well as maintains privacy. The vertical panels in the aisle allow for a space for the writing ledge and information display of the bank.
