LAGOM

Originally, a three bedroom 900 sqft sized apartment located in the Mumbai suburbs, the client brief was that of converting it into a pleasantly spacious two bedroom one. An open plan with flexible approach was one of the significant requirements of this young couple. Interesting and cozy seating areas for any social events that the couple would want to host was also kept in mind while designing the apartment. The living room is integrated with dining, while the open kitchen with frosted sliding glass door allows flexibility to create an open interactive space.

The wooden flooring flows through the living room to the kitchen with custom made TV console keeping in mind the contemporary design language of the house. A concrete platform allows for casual seating by the window, with a corner bookshelf to create a reading nook. The concrete seating is designed to give a floating look and a storage has been deliberately avoided to maintain the visual appeal of the design. The clustered coffee tables allow for convenient usage in the living room. The 6 seater dining table is expandable and can be easily converted to an 8 seater as per the requirement. The breaking down of the walls exposed the structural beams in the dining space, which are now conceal designed by wooden paneling the ceiling area. The various artworks of the apartment have been painted by Ar.Sapna Lakhe (the architect herself).

The master bedroom due to its compact size, the architects have used IPS mosaic flooring with steel inlay making the space look bigger. The floral wallpaper adds some wall aesthetic to the same. The wardrobe with its full height shutters is in back painted glass, thus adding some reflective surfaces in the bedroom.
