Conservation Of The Dean Bungalow

The conservation of the Ghodbunder Fort site initiated with the intention to only restore the historic fort.

As the social value of the place was revealed during the project, the scope of work was extended to adapt the adjacent open space as a landscaped recreational area for the nearby village community.

The objectives of the adaptive reuse of the open space were to:

  • Interweave the conservation of the fortand the open space to reflect the heritage significance of the urban context as a whole.
  • Regenerate community associations of the villagers with the fort.
  • Provide a space for community use.
